May: new woven pictures, the start of June’s scarves and announcing an exciting upcoming project

4th June 2017

May has been a busy month for my loom and I. I’ve recently completed a new range of collaboration work with my lovely husband, Jez, who takes beautiful photographs of nature and landscapes, which I then cut into thin sections and weave back together. I hand dye the silks so they accurately compliment and highlight some of the colours of the photographs. Here are a few from this new collection, some of which have already sold, but the rest are framed and available to buy from my workshop at Walford Mill Crafts.

I’m now working on a new range of scarves, taking inspiration from the fabulous colours which are popping up this season. Sweet peas are a main inspiration at the moment; they not only smell fantastic but their colours are vibrant and cheerful. I’m yet to weave these, but here you can see the silks I’ve dyed in preparation. Make sure to check my Facebook page for regular updates and more images.

Finally, I’m excited to announce I am part of Making Dorseta new long-term initiative beginning with a book and exhibition of 50 selected Dorset makers. The book launch and exhibition will be at Wolfeton Riding House, Charminster, nr. Dorchester, on the weekend of the 01 + 02 July following a special preview on Friday 30 June. More information to follow on my website’s home page and Facebook page.
